Projects

The Education and Training Hub for Autism Needs (ETHAN) have various projects that require your kind donations and sponsorship. Without your help we cannot achieve the work that we are doing.

Help us Create an Autism Friendly Garden Route

One of the most reported issues that affects autistic people, and their families, is accessing everyday activities and services within their local communities. By increasing awareness, and making small changes, you will be helping to reduce the barriers that autistic people face.

ETHAN believes that by working with a larger number of organisations and businesses, we can:

  •  change the way autism is seen
  •  create a society that works for all autistics
  •  break down the barriers which prevent autistic people from participating fully in society.

Fundraise for ETHAN

Raising funds is a great way to contribute to the lives of autistic people and their families in the Garden Route.

There are a few ways you can fundraise:

  • On your own, in a team, at your school, or your workplace
    • online fundraising is the easiest and quickest way to raise funds. Simply create an online fundraising page and spread the word using social media, WhatsApp, or email.
    • For any offline fundraising activities, you will need an Authority to Fundraise letter which will allow you to fundraise on behalf of ETHAN. Please contact Louw-let Fourie wecare@gmail.com for more info.
    • The funds received will enable ETHAN to provide therapy for children in need, assist families with home program support, or enable us to support nonspeaking autistics on their journey of communication.
    • Here are a few ideas to get you started – hold a bake sale at your school; shave your beard; start a raffle; host a morning tea fundraiser; ask guests at your special occasion celebration to donate rather than bringing a gift; run a marathon; ask your boss to match the funds you raise.

Become a Corporate Sponsor of ETHAN

Your support can make a huge difference in many people’s lives. A corporate charity partnership with the Education and Training Hub for Autism Needs (ETHAN) shows your clients, consumers, and staff members that you are committed to help us provide the best possible opportunities for autistic people. Your support helps autistic people to realise their full potential and it also plays a significant role in assisting us to expand and meet the needs of the growing autism community in the greater Garden Route.

Did you know that most young autistics aren’t getting enough help to fulfil their lives and that a gift as small as R5,000 a month can already make a difference by offering sponsored places to autistic children at specialist schools, so that they don’t miss out on life-changing support?

Or that more than half of autistic adults don’t participate in the South African labour force? By making your organisation autism friendly or by employing an autistic person you can make a difference.

What are the benefits of a corporate charity partnership?

A corporate charity partnership can be invaluable for an organisation as it has a positive impact both on their staff and on the world around them.

When you choose a charity that many employees would find meaningful, your corporate partnership will improve employee satisfaction and staff engagement at all levels.

Charity partnerships are also great ways to network, as businesses connect and bond over supporting the same cause or organisation. Partnering with ETHAN will also show your customers the cause your business cares about, and how you’re contributing to improving the welfare of others.

How can your organisation form a corporate partnership with ETHAN?

Here are some of the ways you can get involved and form a corporate partnership with ETHAN:

Support ETHAN through Cause-Related Marketing

Differentiate yourself from your competitors and build positive brand awareness as a socially responsible organisation, enhance your connection with the community and appeal to a bigger market by aligning your marketing campaign with ETHAN. Electing to donate a percentage of sales for specific products, overall sales or over a defined period is an easy and effective way to support autistic people and to build positive brand awareness at the same time.

Have fun with charity fundraising

Fundraising at work is fun, simple, and sociable. From morning teas to trivia nights or fancy-dress parties: encouraging your team to fundraise for ETHAN can motivate, develop personal and professional skills, and help build supportive relationships for a great cause. And to make your fundraising efforts even more impactful match the contributions of your employees and make it the icing on the cake. Less than R1,000 already helps to provide a family with vital specialist therapy to put supports in place at home and school.

Donate your skills or goods, instead of your money

Pro-bono and in-kind support is as equally important to us as monetary donations. You can help us rolling out a project by providing your expert skills and knowledge or by donating in-kind goods that we would otherwise need to buy on commercial terms. Below is the list of our current requirements.

To learn more about partnering with our organisation and supporting autistic people through a more formalised partnership, call Herchell on 071 876 7076 ethan.wecare@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you.
